Turkish Humanitarian Assistance to the Philippines in the Aftermath of the Typhoon Yolanda and the Visit of the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister to the Philippines
H.E. Mr. Beşir Atalay, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey visited the Philippines on 11-13 November 2013 to deliver the humanitarian aid provided by the Turkish Government in the aftermath of the Typhoon Yolanda which claimed many lives and caused massive material damage. Deputy Prime Minister Atalay was accompanied by Dr. Fuat Oktay, Director-General of the Disaster and Emergency Management and a high-level delegation from the Turkish Red Crescent.
Turkey is the first country which provided humanitarian assistance to the Philippines in the aftermath of the Typhoon Yolanda.
During his visit, H.E. Mr. Beşir Atalay also called on the Hon. Jejomar Binay, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines and participated in the meeting of the launching of the UN Action Plan for the Typhoon Yolanda.
